What Is Paint Correction?
Paint correction is machine polishing. It reduces the appearance of imperfections that sit in the clear coat and can be refined without painting the panel.
It is not a promise to remove every mark. Deeper damage can sit past the point where polishing is safe. That is decided during inspection.
Paint Imperfections We Address
Results depend on the paint’s condition and on how deep each defect is. These are the kinds of marks correction is used for. They are not a guarantee for every panel.
Light surface scratches
Shallow marks that sit in the clear coat and may be refined by polishing.
Oxidation
Dull, chalky paint that has lost clarity.
Paint haze
A cloudy look left in the finish after washing or prior polishing.
Certain water spots
Mineral marks that have etched lightly enough to be polished.
Dull or faded-looking paint
A finish that no longer reflects cleanly, when the clear coat can still be refined.
The Paint Correction Process
This is an overview of how a correction is approached. It is not a fixed procedure for every vehicle. The steps that are used depend on the inspection.

Paint Inspection
The finish is examined under inspection lighting so the recommendation follows what is actually there.

Surface Preparation
The panel is washed and decontaminated before any polish, so the machine is not grinding dirt into the clear coat.

Precision Polishing
Machine polishing is used to reduce correctable defects. The number of stages depends on the paint.

Final Finish Inspection
The panel is wiped and checked again so the result can be seen, not just assumed.
Paint Correction vs. Ceramic Coating
Paint correction refines defects in the existing finish. Ceramic coating is a separate protective treatment applied on top of prepared paint.
One does not replace the other. A coating can be quoted with correction when the paint needs both. Coating alone does not remove swirls.
